The point of local search marketing is to get found by potential customers. And the best way to get found is to be on the first page of Google.
There are four ways your business can show up on the first page of Google: with a high-ranking organic listing, in packs, with paid ads, or in a directory listing.
I’ll work with you to give you the best opportunity to get found by potential customers using these methods.
Local Website Optimization
One opportunity to show up on the first page of Google is in the organic listings. Those are the unpaid search results that come up when a user searches Google.
This is free advertising for your business but you need a website for best results. If your only web presence is a Facebook page, I can help you get established in the local search market with your own website that is optimized for the services and geographic location your customers are looking for.
If you already have a website but it is performing poorly in the local listings, I can edit your site content for local search.
I can’t guarantee a first page position in Google but optimization gives you the best chance for success.
Local SEO optimization starts with a review of your business and competitors. Next, I find the best keywords for your services, prepare a site plan, then edit your content using ethical best practices.
Full web content writing services are also available.
Google My Business Setups
If your local business isn’t listed on Google Maps, you are losing out on free customers!
Not only do mobile users search Google maps for nearby businesses, your maps listing also allows you to show up in “pack” listings in the organic search results.
Packs are grouped listings that appear near the top of the search results page and show stick pins on the map. Packs are mixed in with but show above most of the organic listings.
Not all local search terms pull a pack, but many do and you need to be there. Showing up in a pack is in addition to your organic placement. That means it is possible to show up more than once on the first page of Google.
To get you started, I’ll set up your Google My Business account, select the best categories for your business, write an optimized business description, and set up your business details for optimum performance. All work is done using ethical practices according to Google’s Terms of Service.
Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising
A sure way to get on the first page of Google is to pay for it.
Depending on how competitive your market is, you can expect to pay from a few hundred dollars a month to thousands for pay-per-click ads. Don’t worry, you can set an affordable budget.
PPC ads are a great way to supplement your organic listings.
Although I don’t create or monitor advertising campaigns, I assist you by writing Google Adwords ads that get the click or call.
Did you know a directory listing on another website can put you on the first page of Google? Yes, you can directly benefit from someone else’s hard spent advertising dollars.
But this is also one of the ways you can damage your online reputation…by submitting to poor quality directories or listings that are unrelated to your business. If you load up with poor quality incoming links, you can also be penalized by the Google Penguin algorithm.
I recommend the WhiteSpark Citation Building Service for building directory listings for local SEO. Or, I can include WhiteSpark services in your project and work with them for you to build your local search rank.
If you only depend on organic listings to advertise your business online, listing your business in Google My Places and buying PPC ads can put your business in front of potential customers an additional one to two times – on the first page of Google!
